Testimonials
I especially appreciated the discussions of how we get to know students, and of how we can create curriculum that builds critical thinking and the whole person, not just the academic side that may reinforce the status quo.
As I think about the conversation from yesterday, hearing everyone's perspective on a need for more black educators really resonated with me. I see that now in the school buildings and I definitely experienced it as a student myself.
I think all stakeholders could benefit from our takeaways - parents, administrators, community members, teachers. The need for institutional action resonated with me because I feel our students would benefit from that level of change in addition to change on the individual educator level.
I am interested in hearing more about the various strategies of how belonging is being utilized so that ALL stakeholders feel a level of community and belonging within the school.
I'm always thinking and looking at things through an admin's perspective, with an eye on how I might be able to support the teachers in my building; so the idea of using UBD to help strategize how to increase communal learning was impactful.
